Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) always wished for more out of life. Working as a field news reporter he was just paying his dues until he got promoted to news anchor. When Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) gets the promotion first, Bruce curses God (Morgan Freeman) and blames him for his entire life situation. God decides that Bruce should have a taste of what it is like to be him so he takes a weeks vacation and leaves Bruce in charge. Bruce enjoys the challenge as he spends most of his initial time focusing on improving his personal situation. Ignoring the important prayers and requests, Bruce focuses on important things like increasing the breast size of his girlfriend Grace (Jennifer Aniston) and improving his traffic situation. The requests start coming in faster than Bruce can handle and he becomes overwhelmed by the job. God is glad to retain his position upon his return and also pleased that Bruce learned something in the process.

Nathan Eswine Is Leaving The Random Blanket Show

This week Nathan Eswine announced he is leaving RandomBlanket's web show, The Random Blanket Show.

After nearly a year and half, Nathan Eswine (the co-creator and co-host) said season three of The Random Blanket Show was his last.

"It's time for me to move on." Eswine said. "I feel my part in the show has run its course."

Nathan played a number of characters in the YouTube awarded show, as well as doing all the production work and design. Eswine feels he has "grown up," and wants to create more mature material.

Nathan commented, "I feel like it's time to branch out of the family comedy section and move on toward a more gritty dark dramatic PG-13 feel."

Fans might disagree, but Eswine seems to think the show could go on.

"The show doesn't have to end," he said. "It's a big change to the show, which I feel is a good thing, actually. There is plenty of potential for my sister, maybe Abigail will start something of her own. I see it as a bittersweet positive for the show."

His co-host and sister, Abigail Eswine may continue. Eswine said he could possibly produce his sister's show if she were to create one.

Nathan was recently seen co-starring in two episodes of Showtime's The Big C. He is currently working on developing his own production name and in pre-production on his short film.

Eswine closed with, "This isn't the end of my works, I'm simply leveling up in what I want to accomplish."

I really think that TV has reached a pinnacle with the Pacific DVD set. I have been totally mesmerised from start to finish and laughed as well as cried along with the three principle characters involved. As a miniseries Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have totally excelled and created an awesome masterpiece.

There have been plenty of previous World War 2 epics but none that have touched on the conflict with the Japanese quite like this. The Pacific DVD set takes us from start to finish through the eyes of three marines who were actually there living in the hell of those battles.

Using accounts from Robert Leckie, John Balisone and Eugene Sledge combined with real and historical events the horrors and very grim realities of war are made very graphic and you soon begin to realise the hardships that were suffered by these brave men.

If you have never been in combat it can be difficult to imagine how debilitating both physically and mentally it can be but, you are left in no doubt as to how fighting not only a formidable and relentless enemy but exhaustion, starvation and the effects of malaria takes its toll and no holds are barred.

There are some very compelling scenes during the different battles that are both thought provoking and very humbling too. Just when you think all shreds of humanity are gone due to the brutality of war you are exposed to acts of kindness that leave you astounded with a great sense of humility.

You need to keep an open mind with this miniseries as there have been comparisons to another block buster in Band of Brothers but Pacific is not about a whole platoon and their leaders it is very personal and specific to those three individuals and their war and you really get a sense of the men and who they were.

With scenes away from the battlefield at home and on leave it can be hard to watch the mental battles and personal suffering that they all endure because of their war experiences making ordinary life hard to adjust to.

If you never buy another World War 2 DVD but you love a good story with plenty of action then get yourself the Pacific DVD set. It is all the more poignant I think because you know that the hardship, trials and tribulations that you are watching are not based on Hollywood fiction but hard facts and they really were there living the nightmare.
